SWCWA Civilians

Elizabeth Stewart Clark’s Sewing Academy

Civilians

The purpose of our organization is to provide a focal point for better understanding and presentation of topics relevant to everyday civilian life during the era, including:

Clothing for men, women and children

Common objects used around the house, farmstead and workshop

Period crafts and occupations

Mid 19th century food and food preparation

Society and the impact of the war on the ‘home front’

We at the SWCWA are always looking for new individuals to portray members of the community, Christian Commission, Sanitary Commission, Towns folk or members of the Trades which were present in the period.

If you have a skill or talent you would like to highlight to the public please contact the SWCWA and provide us with information on your impression.
